Recently Influenster and Revlon Canada have teamed up to send out some products. Lucky for me, I was on that short-list of influencers to be reached out to! As stated in my recent Instagram post, I’ve been on the look out to try some new eye products. This one so happens to be a drugstore mascara. So you can imagine how grateful I was when this came along in the mail. I mean, who doesn’t like getting mail? Especially, when it’s complimentary.
On to the verdict. Revlon is pretty well-known drugstore brand. But there are several stigmas that float around the beauty market about these drugstore products. Some of which include ideas like:
- Drugstore brands = Poor Quality (AKA you paid for what you get)
- Drugstore brands are less prestigious
In some ways, that may be true. However, if you look at it from a different perspective beauty is the bottom line. People will feel inclined to purchase a product if it satisfies their need, no matter the price point. With regards to the Revlon Mega Multiplier™ Mascara, I have to say that I was not 100% impressed. By all means, the product is not bad, but it did not meet my expectations— my needs.
I found that with this mascara, I needed to apply several coats to really bring out the definition. Maybe I’m just impatient, but my logic behind this is was: how long will this product actually last if I have to put on coat-after-coat to define my lashes? It was a little tedious for me.
On the other hand, once I actually put on a significant amount, I liked how dark and defined they looked. The brush’s bristles evenly separated the hairs as I applied the formula. Although, there is a lack of the “plump” and volumizing component (think more wispy rather than falsies-galore).
Would I consider this to be my go-to mascara? I can’t stay it would be my first pick, but most definitely a consideration above some other drugstore brands.
