Your first impressions mean more than just a firm handshake. Most people start judging you from choice of clothing right down to your body language. And for those who believe that their lack of work experience is what is holding them back from landing a job…well that actually may not be the case.
There are a variety of ways of gaining the attention of your peers, that special someone, or the human resource manager outside of the traditional route of just handing in your resume…EVEN with basically no job experience.
But first, it starts with opening your mind to trying out new ways to create long lasting first impressions.

Now I won’t say that appearance is everything, however, it is important… Especially if you’re trying to increase your odds of having a lasting impression.
*Stick around for the success tool giveaway at the end of this post!*
If you’re going for a job interview, the hiring manager is going to imagine whether you fit the role you’re applying for. And unfortunately if you don’t come off that way, this may cost you the opportunity despite your qualifications and/or abilities.
Proxemics and Presentation
Proxemics is how you utilize space when communicating with those around you. This is so important because your actions speak louder than your words. With that being said, it also means being respectful and mindful of cues so you know how to acting accordingly.
On the flip side, there is the notion of presentation. This relates to your confidence and dressing appropriately. Both of these ideas are important because together they are part of the success formula to being remembered.
Establishing Lasting First Impressions
The most effective method I’ve found is smiling. Your smile can convey so much confidence and help mask nerves. It almost sounds too good to be true that something your born with is the simple answer to getting you what you want.
It is the most convenient tool I’ve used to date to make great first impressions.
For years my teeth have been at the forefront of coffee stains! Although I’d say that I take care of my smile, it definitely needed a level-up. Taking it upon yourself to upkeep your smile is so important because it one of the first things people notice.
As life after grad can be a daunting transition, it’s also very important to stay connected through networking. And for that reason, over the last several weeks I’ve been using Smile Brilliant’s at home whitening kit to get rid of/reduce the of the years of teeth stains.
But I’ll be honest, at first was skeptical. At home whitening? No dentist needed? Huh??? Of course, I had to do some research.
Here’s what I found out about Smile Brilliant teeth whitening trays:
The major pros of using trays
They are custom fitted to your teeth

They can be used by those with sensitive teeth

Results are more noticeable

You have more control of length of use

The not so major pros
- It’s a little bit of a longer process
- In most cases, it may be more expensive than alternatives such as whitening strips, charcoal, etc.
- The first time you try on your trays may be a little uncomfortable (I used vaseline on my gums to fix this right up!)
Granted there are pros and cons to everything, the pros outweighed the cons for me. The simple application made it easy to incorporate into my night routine, which allowed me to start off everyday with a new smile.
Having said that, I have partnered with Smile Brilliant to give you the chance to win your own teeth whitening package and to help you create long lasting first impressions!

Ultimately, nothing you wear is more important than your smile. It’s simple.
